Civilian National Reserve

The Daily Chronicle (18 august 1914, p. 5)

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle writes: "You kindly permitted me to address the above body through your columns. Might I now say, in answer to more than 1,000 centres which have been formed, that in view of the War Office pronouncement, they can only pre their organisation and wait in case they should be wanted at some later period. A strong committee of the London Volunteer Defence Force will give them a lead when the time comes."
