On Monday Dr. Conan Doyle contributed to the Times a highly patriotic appeal to country gentlemen and hard riders after hounds to turn their talents to use in South Africa. We wired to the creator of Sherlock Holmes at his pretty Surrey home at Grayshott to ask if it were true that he had himself voluteered. We are glad to have received the following reply:—
