Doctor Watson Again

The Bystander (11 september 1934, p. 461)

The Sherlock Holmes Society is humming with excitement, for a discovery of the first importance has been made which throws a new light upon the character of Dr. Watson. A document has been found which proves beyond a shadow of doubt that the gallant doctor not only took his medical degree at Edinburgh University, but actually played cricket for the University. It only leaked out after many years that Watson played "Rugger" for Blackheath. Now comes a new revelation both of his athletic attainments and of his modesty.
