"Daily Express" Correspondent.
Merthyr, Tuesday Night.
"The vast majority of the human race are destined for happiness after death, or very soon after death,"
said Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in an address on spiritualism in Merthyr Drill Hall to-night.
"I have never known of one," he added, "who wanted to come back to what they regard as a sort of mud bath.
"I am as certain that the dead live as that I am on this platform,"
was one of Sir Arthur's statements, and he declared that he would not be surprised if all Christianity became united on that solid ground.
"Life after death is the basis of Christianity,"
he said, "and the real enemy of Christianity is the materialist, who says that after death there is no end of the matter. Spiritualists are prepared to prove the very thing that is the centre of the whole Christian faith."
