LT. J. P. MULLER. — A reception, with Sir A. Conan Doyle in the chair, was given last week to this Danish athlete, who has recently taken up his residence in England. A summary of Lt. Muller's performances follows:— He was stroke of the Champion crew of Scandinavia in rowing in 1889, 1893, 1894, 1895, 1896, 1899, and 1900; Champion of Scandinavia in Hammer Throwing, 1898, and Antique Pentathlon, 1897, and 1898; Champion of Denmark in running all distances from three-quarter mile to twice the Marathon distance, 1891, 1892, and 1893; in one mile walking, 1892, 1893, and 1894; in Antique Pentathlon, 1896, 1897, and 1898; in all-round athletics, 10 events, 1897, 1898, and 1899; in Throwing the Discus, 1892; in Throwing the Hammer, 1894, 1896, 1897, and 1898; in slinging the 56 lb. weight, 1896-99; in one mile swimming, 1896; in 200 metres back-swimming, 1896-7; in scientific and fancy swimming, 1904-8; in life-saving, 1900.
