From The Arthur Conan Doyle Encyclopedia
Mark Jones (2019)

Mark Jones (BSI, MBt, ASH) is a Doylean and Sherlockian expert from York, UK.

Biography

Mark Jones has been fascinated by the works of Arthur Conan Doyle since he read the canon one wet summer holiday as a twelve-year-old, before diving into The Lost World. He studied and taught the history of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and continues to work in higher education as a consultant.

He has written several books on television, film and literature including 'Dark Matters', an introduction to Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials novels for young teenagers. He has contributed articles to The Baker Street Journal, Canadian Holmes, The Serpentine Muse and numerous blogs, as well as lectures related to Arthur Conan Doyle (see below).

In 2021, he co-created The Literary Agents, a scion society of The Baker Street Irregulars (BSI) dedicated to studying Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's works — not exclusively (but also not excluding) those he may have promoted for, or under the name of, Dr John H. Watson.

In 2023, he wrote Conan Doyle: Mystery and Adventure, Inside the lost 1967 BBC TV series 'Sir Arthur Conan Doyle' (Kaleidoscope Publishing, 4 august 2023).
