Midianites

Biblical tribe.
The Midianites were a nomadic tribal confederation from the Hebrew Bible, traditionally descended from Midian, a son of Abraham and his wife Keturah. They lived across north-western Arabia, the Sinai, and the southern Levant.
In the Sherlock Holmes stories
