In the Sherlock Holmes stories
- Mme Fournaye was Eduardo Lucas's wife in Paris (as he lived a double life there as M. Henri Fournaye) (SECO 337).
- She was of Creole origin, extremely excitable nature, and has suffered in the past from attacks of jealousy which have amounted to frenzy (SECO 338).
- The Paris police and press conjectured she committed the murder of Eduardo Lucas (SECO 339).
