• Mrs. Smith was the wife of Mordecai Smith, a London boat-owner (SIGN 1585).

• Sherlock Holmes named her as the contact in the newspaper notice about the missing steam-launch Aurora (SIGN 1456).

• She had two sons Jack and Jim (SIGN 1485).
