- Mrs. Staunton was the secret wife of Godfrey Staunton. She was Staunton landlady's daughter, whom he married (MISS 527).
- She contracted a consumption of the most virulent kind (MISS 537). That is why Godfrey Staunton disappeared to go to her bedside (MISS 542).
