This match was played on the ground of the former on Wednesday, and terminated in an easy victory for that club, their total score being 218 against 151 made by their opponents. In the first innings of North End Mr. Adcock bowled very successfully for the visitors, being credited with all ten wickets and doing the "hat trick," but he was off the wicket in the second innings and was well punished. Master-Gunner Lovell and Mr. Hemingsley handled the leather well for the home club, the former taking seven wickets in the first innings for 27 runs, and the latter the same number of wickets for 42 runs in the second innings. The feature of the day was, however, the brilliant hitting of the Rev. E. B. Cotton, who hit successive balls of different bowlers right out of the field, 51 runs being rapidly made by boundary hits out of a total of 58. Lunch was provided by Mr. Hoskins, of the Derby Arms, Stamshaw. Score:—
