Frank Heine, l'auteur du faux traité franco-belge, est dit-on excellent pasticheur littéraire. Dernièrement, il publiait, dans une feuille hollandaise, un conte imité de Conan Doyle et signé Canon Doyle. Le romancier anglais prit la chose en fort mauvaise part. Le pastiche l'eût peut-être amusé; le Canon lui déplut, au point qu'il intenta une action judiciaire à Frank Heine et à son journal. Le tribunal d'Anvers, ces jours-ci, a condamné Frank Heine à mille francs de dommages-intérêts; le pasticheur saura ce qu'il en coûte de transformer Conan en Canon.
Pasticher... and Forger (English)
Frank Heine, the author of the fake Franco-Belgian treaty, is said to be an excellent literary pastiche writer. Recently, he published, in a Dutch newspaper, a short story imitating Conan Doyle and signed Canon Doyle. The English novelist took this very badly. The pastiche might have amused him; the Canon displeased him so much that he brought legal action against Frank Heine and his newspaper. The Antwerp court recently ordered Frank Heine to pay a thousand francs in damages; the pasticher will now know the price of transforming Conan into Canon.
