- Holmes said he was not a bad fellow, though an absolute imbecile in his profession. He had one positive virtue. He was as brave as a bulldog, and as tenacious as a lobster if he got his claws upon anyone (REDH 411).

- He was in charge in the City and Suburban Bank robbery (REDH 379).
