PORTSMOUTH F.A. v. FAREHAM F.C. — This Association match took place on Saturday on the Garrison Recreation Ground, and resulted in a win by five goals to love for the borough club, whose combined play showed a decided improvement. The visitors, having won the toss, elected to start with the wind in their favour, but the passing of the Portsmouth forwards and the defence of the backs prevented Fareham from at all threatening their opponents' goal. The backs and Kiln and Stedham did best for Fareham. Teams:— Portsmouth. — Goal, A. C . Smith ; backs, W. Byle and R. Hemingsley ; half-backs, A. E. Kindersley (captain), C. E. Pinfold, and J. Poole ; forwards, A. H. Godfrey, centre ; J. Armstrong and Edmonds, right wing ; J. Simpson and J. Finlay, left wing. Fareham. — Goal, Smith ; backs, Darby and Duffett ; half-backs, Paice, Besant and Owen ; forwards, W. Kiln, centre ; Gillmour and A. E. Pearman, right wing ; E. Stedham and Clark, left wing.
