PORTSMOUTH v. HAVANT. — The return match under Association rules between these Clubs was played on the ground of the former at North End yesterday, when the home team were victorious by six goals to four. Portsmouth won the toss, and having a high wind in their favour scored very rapidly. C. Huddy, who played up in splendid style, kicked four goals in succession T. Huddy added another, and then the sixth followed. The visitors were two short, while the borough Club lost the services of A. N. Harward shortly after the leather had been set rolling, some dirt getting into one of his eyes from the bail, with which he was struck in the face. Before half-time the wind dropped a little, when Havant tried hard to obtain a point. After ends had been changed the wind increased in force, and Havant, using their advantage, succeeded in registering four goals, one being the result of a corner kick, and the others being kicked by Turner and A. Bone. For Portsmouth C. and T. Huddy rendered the most conspicuous service, but Nicholson deserves special mention, having kicked a goal in the first half that was disallowed on an appeal for oft side, and having made a beautiful shot for goal in the second half, the leather only passing just over the tape. Dr. Strong, A. Carrell, and the Bones worked hardest for Havant. Sides:— Portsmouth: Goal, Young ; full backs, A. C. Smith and R. Jones ; half backs, W. B. Adams (captain), A. Moore, and F. White ; centre forward, C. Huddy ; right wing, T. Huddy and A. N. Harward ; left wing, Nicholson and J. McDonald. Havant: Goal, F. Lock ; full back, H. J. Trigg ; half backs, G. Westbrooke and F. Leng ; centre forward, Dr. Strong ; right wing, T. C. Turner and A. Carrell ; left wing, G. Bone and A. Bone.
