Sidney Smith (1913)

Robert Sidney Smith (13 february 1877 - 20 october 1935), known as Sidney Smith, was famous for creating the influential comic strip The Gumps (1917-1959), based on an idea by Captain Joseph M. Patterson, editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune.

Between 1912 and 1914, he did 86 comic strips Sherlock Holmes Jr. in The Chicago Tribune, which was renamed as "Pussyfoot Sam" after the 67th episode, probably at the behest of Arthur Conan Doyle's lawyers, and lasted after 19 episodes only under the new name.
