"SHERLOCK HOLMES."

MR. GILLETTE PRESENTS HIS DETECTIVE PLAY TO AN ENTHUSIASTIC AUDIENCE.

An enthusiastic audience followed the adventures of Sherlock Holmes as they were portrayed at the Star Theater last night by William Gillette and his company. In the hands of Mr. Gillette the detective's doings afford a remarkable exhibition of dramatic skill as he portrays it.

Mr. Gillette has excellent support. Several of the company have sufficient opportunity to display their talents and none of them fills his part more creditably than George Wessells. Maude Fealy, as Miss Faulkner, is very attractive. Her duties are not heavy, but she gives grace and sweetness to her part which adds considerably to the play. Ralph Delmore makes a sufficiently villainous Larrabee and Olive Oliver assists him ably in the part of Mrs. Larrabee. Fred K. Truesdell, George Honey and Henry McArdle, who took the part of Billy, were others who deserve special mention.

The play will be repeated tonight and twice tomorrow. The theater was filled last night,
