The Knighthood of Conan Doyle will be one of the most popular in the honors list. Best known by his Sherlock Holmes detective stories, the new literary Knight is an accomplished traveller and novelist, and his book on the Boer war is regarded as one of the best works issued dealing with that subject. He was Senior Physician of the Langman Field Hospital, South Africa, during the war. He was educated at Edinburgh University, where he took his medical degree, and afterwards practised for a few years at Southsea. He travelled the Arctic regions, and the West Coast of Africa. His publications are numerous and exceedingly popular, the latest of his books being the "Hound of the Baskervilles."
