Take a Family History is the 9th episode in season 1 of the American TV series Watson aired on 13 april 2025 on CBS, starring Morris Chestnut as Dr. Watson. 43 min.
Dr. Derian is under pressure when her secret, rule-breaking attempts to treat her sister Gigi Grigoryan (Jennifer Derian) backfire and Gigi is brought to the clinic with serious side effects. The episode is built around flashbacks showing teen Ingrid ("Didi") trying to get Gigi lifesaving spinal surgery after an injury tied to their abusive father (Ivo Derina), and a younger Mary Morstan getting involved, only for the unauthorized plan to be shut down, leaving Gigi permanently disabled. Back in the present, Dr. Watson and Dr. Mary Morstan piece together the truth and find a way to treat Gigi, but the fallout is personal: Dr. Mary Morstan orders Dr. Derian to leave the clinic within two months after learning what she's done and who Gigi really is. The story also deepens Dr. Watson and Dr. Morstan's bond over the loss of their baby. It ends with a final gut-punch reveal in flashback: Ingrid killed her father, reframing her "mystery" as something darker and more desperate than simple ambition.
