The Nightmare Room (play 2012)

From The Arthur Conan Doyle Encyclopedia

The Nightmare Room is an American play, written and directed by John Goodrum, presented by In Tandem Theatre at the Tenth Street Theatre (Milwaukee, WI, USA) from 4 to 20 october 2012.

When Helen regains consciousness, she finds herself bound and blindfolded in a locked room. Her captor, best friend Catherine, challenges her to a deadly game of Russian roulette to decide which of them will win the handsome film star they both desire. But the game – like the room – is far from what it seems... and are they alone in the room... or is there someone watching!

The play is adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle's short story : The Nightmare Room (1921). It is different from the original. In Conan Doyle's story, the conflict is between two men over a famous dancer; in Goodrum's version, it becomes two women, Catherine and Helen, trapped in a locked room and forced into a deadly game involving poison to settle their rivalry over a film star.
