- Violet Westbury was Arthur Cadogan West's fiancée and the last person to see him alive (BRUC 403).
- She told Sherlock Holmes that Arthur was patriotic, not in need of money, but worried in the week before his death about something "too serious" tied to his official work (BRUC 425).
- On the fatal night they were walking to the theatre through the fog when he suddenly darted away near the office and never returned (BRUC 96).
- She begged Sherlock Holmes to save his honour (BRUC 450).
