Sir Arthur Conan Doyle described at a meeting at Wimbledon last night how he recently heard the voice of his son who has been dead a year.

"I was in a darkened room," he said, "with five men, my wife, and an amateur medium. I bound the medium in six places with string. My wife later gave a little cry, and I heard the voice of my son.

"My son said, 'Father.' I said, 'Yes, my boy.' He said, 'Forgive me.' I knew to what he referred. We had only one difference in all his lifetime — his non-belief in spiritualism. I reassured him, and he replied, 'I am so happy.' Then his voice faded away.

"I state definitely that I spoke to my son, and that I heard his voice. I would be a most blasphemous liar if what I told you were not true."
