- Von Bork was the German spymaster running the Kaiser's English mission from an English coastal country house (LAST 8).
- He kept a safe of British military intelligence ('Fords,' 'Harbour-defences,' 'Aeroplanes,' 'Ireland,' 'Egypt,' 'Portsmouth forts,' 'The Channel,' 'Rosyth,' ...) (LAST 102).
- He expected to leave for Berlin as war breaks, but was tricked and captured by Sherlock Holmes (as "Altamont") who chloroformed him and seized his dossiers (LAST 304).
