The great majority of those who have taken the trouble to reply to my question :

"What was the ball bearing?"

seem to think

"The Tyred Wheel"

the best solution. Many sent in the following reply, which is good:—

"A Heavy Felloe."

A few opined that it was bearing

"Conan Doyle"
(Cone and oil).

For ingenuity, however, I certainly think an award is due to the sender of the following reply:—

"THE WHIP OF THE FRAME."

I am sending a Map of England and Wales to W. Beckett, Preston, Lancs., for the foregoing reply.

"WHAT DID THE HANDLE BAR?"
