A Study in Scarlet (1887)
- Wiggins was a young boy and the spokesman of the street Arabs (STUD 1412) named by Sherlock Holmes the "Baker Street division of the detective police force" (STUD 1046).
The Sign of Four (1888)
- Sherlock Holmes mentioned Wiggins as his "dirty little lieutenant" and the leader of his gang (SIGN 1450).
- Sherlock Holmes asked Wiggins and his band to find the whereabouts of a steam launch called the Aurora (SIGN 1584).
