Wladimir V. Bogomoletz

Wladimir Valentine Bogomoletz (1933-2024) was a French Doylean and Sherlockian scholar.
Biography
Wladimir Valentine Bogomoletz was a French Sherlockian scholar, born in Paris on 29 November 1933 and deceased in Paris on 1 November 2024. A physician by profession, he worked as an anatomical pathologist, a background that gave particular resonance to his interest in forensic science and in the scientific aspects of the Sherlock Holmes stories.
Within the French Sherlockian world, Wladimir was an active member of the Société Sherlock Holmes de France, where his canonical name was "Old Mr Farquhar." He was also connected with the wider international Sherlockian community, including the Sherlock Holmes Society of London.
His Sherlockian writings show a strong interest in the links between Sherlock Holmes, France, Paris, forensic science, and Imperial Russia. One of his notable areas of research was Edmond Locard, the French pioneer of forensic science, whom Wladimir treated as a major Holmesian figure. He also wrote on Paris in the Canon, the Hôtel du Louvre, and the connections between Sherlock Holmes and Russian history.
But Wladimir was also very interested in Arthur Conan Doyle connections to France and wrote the article "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Seven Visits to Paris" for The Arthur Conan Doyle Society.
