Edward Woodward (1 june 1930 - 16 november 2009) was a British actor and singer mostly known for his role in the American TV series The Equalizer.

In 1968, Edward Woodward played John Mason in the episode Shoscombe Old Place of the TV series Sherlock Holmes with Peter Cushing as Sherlock Holmes.

In 1983, he played Dr. Watson on stage with Keith Baxter as Sherlock Holmes in the play Murder Dear Watson.

In 1990, he played Sherlock Holmes in the TV movie Hands of a Murderer with John Hillerman as Dr. Watson.

His second wife, Michele Dotrice, played in 1967 in 6 episodes of the TV series Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Crabbe Vicky, Vicky Heald).
