In the Sherlock Holmes stories

  • Dr. Percy Trevelyan was a young London physician, specialist in nervous diseases. (RESI 34).
  • He studied at London University and held a post at King's College Hospital (RESI 50).
  • He became well known in medical circles for his research into catalepsy and for winning the Bruce Pinkerton prize and medal with his monograph on obscure nervous lesions (RESI 51).
  • He was approached by a Sutton (Blessington), who offered to finance his practice on the condition that Trevelyan hand over three-quarters of his earnings and allow him to live in the house as a "resident patient." (RESI 58). Trevelyan accepted and set up in Brook Street (RESI 180).
  • Later, when suspicious events occurred (the visits of the disguised Russian nobleman and his "son"), Trevelyan went to Sherlock Holmes for advice (RESI 43).
