In the Sherlock Holmes stories

• His real name was Sutton (RESI 376).

• He presented himself as a wealthy invalid with a weak heart, living in Dr. Percy Trevelyan's house as a "resident patient" (RESI 93).

• He was one of the five member of The Worthingdon Bank Gang (RESI 380).

• He participated to the 1875 Worthingdon Bank robbery where the caretaker Tobin was murdered (RESI 381).

• After Blessington betrayed his gang turning informer, his accomplices Biddle, Hayward and Moffat were sentenced to 15 years in prison and Cartwright was hanged (RESI 383).

• When they were released early, they tracked down and killed Blessington (RESI 308).

• Sherlock Holmes said he was the "worst" of the The Worthingdon Bank Gang (RESI 308).
