- Hayward was one of the five member of The Worthingdon Bank Gang (RESI 380).
- He participated to the 1875 Worthingdon Bank robbery where the caretaker Tobin was murdered (RESI 381).
- After the Blessington betrayal, Hayward was sentenced to 15 years in prison (RESI 383).
- When Hayward and his gang accomplices Biddle and Moffat were released early, they tracked down and killed Blessington (RESI 308).
