- Oberstein [1] is one of the three leading international spies whom Sherlock Holmes suspected might have taken the document. The two other were La Rothière and Eduardo Lucas (SECO 175).
The Bruce Partington-Plans (1908)
- Hugo Oberstein, 13, Caulfield Gardens, Kensington, was one of the three only agents/spies worth considering. The two other were Adolph Meyer, of 13, Great George Street, Westminster, and Louis La Rothière, of Campden Mansions, Notting Hill (BRUC 573).
