• He answered Mycroft Holmes's newspaper advertisement asking for information about the Greek lady Sophy Kratides (GREE 333).

• In his reply, he said he knew Sophy Kratides well and could give details of her "painful history." He provided her current address: The Myrtles, Beckenham (GREE 334).
