• He broke into Peter Carey's hut at night to consult the ship's logbook about August 1883 (BLAC 261). But was caught on the spot by Inspector Stanley Hopkins (BLAC 264).

• He explained he was pursuing the trail of securities tied to his father (BLAC 307).

• He was ultimately deemed innocent of the murder; Holmes urges his release (BLAC 545).
