In the Sherlock Holmes stories
- Julia Stoner was the daughter of Major-General Stoner and Mrs. Stoner (SPEC 75), and twin sister with Helen Stoner (SPEC 76)
- She was two-years-old when her mother re-married Grimesby Roylott (SPEC 73) and was brought up at Stoke Moran (SPEC 79).
- Julia died in strange circumstances. Before dying, she said to her sister Helen : "O, my God! Helen! It was the band! The speckled band!" (SPEC 148).
- Sherlock Holmes found that Julia died by snake biting (SPEC 561).
