Miles McLaren
From The Arthur Conan Doyle Encyclopedia

Fictional character.
In the Sherlock Holmes stories
- Miles McLaren was a brilliant fellow when he chose to work — one of the brightest intellects of the College of St. Luke's, but he was wayward, dissipated, and unprincipled (3STU 225).
- He was taller than the Indian, not so tall as Gilchrist. Sherlock Holmes supposed five foot six (3STU 318).
- He was suspected mainly because of his bad record and behavior. Sherlock Holmes briefly checked his height, which actually made him less likely. So McLaren simply proceeded with the exam (3STU 403).
