- Helen Stoner heard of Sherlock Holmes from Mrs. Farintosh, whom the detective helped in the hour of her sore need (SPEC 49).
- Sherlock Holmes recalled the case; it was concerned with an opal tiara. It was before the Watson time (SPEC 54).
