- Mrs. Tangey was the commissionaire's wife (NAVA 442).
- On the night of the theft, she answered Percy Phelps's ring for coffee instead of her husband, explaining she wanted to spare him since he was tired (NAVA 452).
- She was seen hurrying away from the Foreign Office around the time of the theft, which raised police suspicions (NAVA 245).
- Percy Phelps and Inspector Forbes pursued her to her home in Ivy Lane, Brixton, and had her searched at Scotland Yard — but no treaty was found (NAVA 248).
