  • On the night of the theft, she answered Percy Phelps's ring for coffee instead of her husband, explaining she wanted to spare him since he was tired (NAVA 452).
  • She was seen hurrying away from the Foreign Office around the time of the theft, which raised police suspicions (NAVA 245).
