In the Sherlock Holmes stories

• Saunders was the housemaid at Ridling Thorpe Manor (DANC 297).

• When Sherlock Holmes and Inspector Martin arrive after the shooting, Mrs. King — along with the housemaid, Saunders — gives evidence about what happened the night of the tragedy. She tells them she was awakened by the first gunshot, ran into Saunders's room, and together they went downstairs to find Hilton Cubitt dead and Elsie Cubitt seriously wounded (DANC 307).
