In the Sherlock Holmes stories
- Sir Henry Baskerville was the young heir to Baskerville Hall, nephew of Sir Charles Baskerville (HOUN 271).
- He was a small, alert, dark-eyed man about thirty years of age, very sturdily built, with thick black eyebrows and a strong, pugnacious face (HOUN 575).
- He became the target of Jack Stapleton's plot, since he stands to inherit the estate and fortune (HOUN 3682).
- He displayed attraction to Beryl Stapleton, unaware of her true situation (HOUN 1732).
- He showed both bravery and temper, but also trusted Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson fully (HOUN 743).
- He ultimately inherited Baskerville Hall safely after the hound was exposed and Jack Stapleton was defeated (HOUN 3656).
