Wait for the Punchline is the 3rd episode in season 1 of the American TV series Watson aired on 23 february 2025 on CBS, starring Morris Chestnut as Dr. Watson. 43 min.
Molly Jones, a stand-up comic collapses during an open-mic set and comes to the Holmes Clinic. They thinking she has epilepsy—right as Watson's own worsening symptoms culminate in him collapsing and alarming the team. As the doctors dig deeper, they discover Molly is actually "Linda," and her family history connects to a notorious case: her mother Felicia has been imprisoned for allegedly drowning her other two children. Watson and the clinic ultimately determine the deaths were tied to an inherited long QT condition (a lethal heart-rhythm disorder), which reframes what happened and helps reunite the family, while Molly is stabilized with a medical implant. Meanwhile, the Moriarty plot tightens as Shinwell is pulled further in—given "helpful" pills and threatened—while smaller character threads simmer (Mary Morstan furious at Watson's prying, Dr. Derian's ambitions blocked, and the Croft twins' personal drama escalating).
