Dear Sir

I got weary of this case for I spent months over it, wrote a booklet, many letters in papers, many private letters, but felt I was up against a ring of political lawyers who could not give away the police without also giving away themselves. There is no doubt that Mr. Ure went far too far in his speech for the prosecution, and that this must be admitted when justice is done. All his Scotch radical friends support him and hence we can never get a fair hearing. When the matter was brought recently in the courts before Scott
