Letter
My dear Ainslie
I am down here trying to work, but long idleness has enervated me and I can do no good. I fear I shall not be in town, save for a few hours on Monday night when I take the chair at a woman author dinner — and I wish some one else had the job. But I should like to see you much. I suppose you are not likely to run down here for a breath of sea air. I would offer you a bed but we are in lodgings ourselves.
