Robert Stephens as Sherlock Holmes in movie The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970)

Robert Stephens (14 july 1931 - 12 november 1995) was a British actor and producer who played Sherlock Holmes in 1970, in Billy Wilder's movie The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes with Colin Blakely as Dr. Watson and Christopher Lee as Mycroft Holmes.

In 1976, he also played Sherlock Holmes on stage with Ronald Bishop as Dr. Watson in the adaptation of William Gillette's play. He was then replaced by Leonard Nimoy for the beginning of the American tour.
