Tristan Bernard (7 september 1866 - 7 december 1947) was a French playwright, novelist, journalist and lawyer. He is famous, particularly, for his play "Les Pieds NickelÃ©s", and as being one of the founder of the french newspaper "Le Canard EnchainÃ©".
In 1909, he wrote a short sherlockian pastiche : Une curieuse disparition collected in "Les VeillÃ©es du Chauffeur".
