  • Jack Woodley was a brutal, heavy-faced, red-moustached young man (SOLI 360). A ruffian (SOLI 274) and an odious person (SOLI 44). Bob Carruthers depicted him as "the greatest brute and bully in South Africa" (SOLI 422).
  • He was condemned to ten years (SOLI 503).
