In the Sherlock Holmes stories

  • Professor Coram was a former revolutionary Russian nihilist who betrayed his comrades (GOLD 549).
  • He had a gaunt, aquiline face, with piercing dark eyes, which lurked in deep hollows under overhung and tufted brows. His hair and beard were white, save that the latter was curiously stained with yellow around his mouth (GOLD 335).
  • He hid and shielded Anna after the killing and aided her escape (GOLD 599).
