- Willoughby Smith was Professor Coram's secretary (GOLD 64).
- He was a very young man straight from the University who seemed to have been just what his employer wanted (GOLD 65). He was a decent, quiet, hard-working fellow, with no weak spot in him at all (GOLD 68). He had excellent eyesight (GOLD 178).
- He was killed by accident by Anna Coram (GOLD 522).
