- During summer 1889, at Eyford, he investigated with Holmes on the Hatherley case. He was in Scotland Yard at this time. (ENGR, 411)
- He was on the Blue carbuncle case when he was in B Division. He wrongly arrested John Horner. (BLUE, 153)
Relationship with Holmes
- He congratulated Holmes: « I am sure, Mr Holmes, that we are very much indebted to you for having cleared the matter up. » (TWIS, 569)
