Letter

Windlesham
26th March, 1925.

Dear Price,

J. N. Maskelyne in his reply to the challenge of the Dialectical Society said 'July 1, 1873. I do not presume to prove that such manifestations are produced by trickery. I have never denied that such manifestations are genuine.' That seems final.

I must tell you that I have now tested Mrs. D. [1] on twenty plates in the presence of the Editor of the M. Post, the D. Express and other witnesses. We have had psychic effects upon 14 out of 20, tho' only one complete face. I don't think in face of this that it will ever be possible again to question her powers. Each test has been fraud-proof.

With best regards.

A. Conan Doyle
