Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is an American radio show broadcasted between 20 october 1930 and 26 may 1935 on WEAF-NBC/WJZ-NBC, starring William Gillette (1930, ep. 1), Clive Brook (1930, ep. 2 & 3), Richard Gordon (1930-1933), Louis Hector (1934-1935) as Sherlock Holmes and Leigh Lovell as Dr. Watson.

Produced by Edna Best, written by Edith Meiser, presented by Joseph Bell and sponsored by George Washington Coffee.

The shows were broadcasted on:

  • Mondays at 10pm (season 1)
  • Thursdays at 8.30pm (season 2)
  • Wednesdays at 9.30pm (season 3)
  • Sundays at 3 or 4pm (1934) and at 9:45pm (1935) (season 4)

In 1934-1935, Louis Hector replaced Richard Gordon as Sherlock Holmes, but still with Leigh Lovell as Dr. Watson. The shows were broadcasted on WJZ-NBC on Sundays at 3 or 4 pm in 1934 and at 9:45 pm in 1935. Sponsored by George Washington Coffee.

Some episodes are based on the non-sherlockian stories of Arthur Conan Doyle : The Hebraic Breastplate (from The Story of the Jew's Breast-Plate), The Lost Special (from The Story of the Lost Special), The Syrian Mummy (from Lot No. 249), The Sealed Room (from The Story of the Sealed Room)... But still with Holmes and Watson as main characters.
